Exhibition

We’re inviting Artists and Participants of the Somerset Art Works Online Art Group to share their work for an online exhibition in October 2025.

You can submit as many finished or work-in-progress artworks made during, or inspired by, an Online Art Group session as you like. The Somerset Art Works team will be selecting the final shortlist from submitted images and those already shared on the Facebook group.

The exhibition will be hosted on the Online Art Group blog (quietplacesathome.online) in October 2025.

Please note, we will not accept submissions from individuals who are not involved in the Online Art Group.

Specifications

  • All image submissions should be clearly labelled FirstNameLastName_TitleOfWork. If you don’t have a title, you can just label the image with your name.
  • All images should be high quality pictures, 1-2MB and submitted in either JPEG, PNG or PDF format.
  • All images should be taken against a clear background.

Tips for taking a good photo

  1. Find somewhere with good lighting – Natural light tends to be the best option for taking a good photo. You could take the photo near a window or outside during the day.
  1. Find a neutral, clear background – You could hang the work on a wall or lay it flat on a surface. Avoid leaning the artwork as this can distort the perspective.
  1. Avoid flash or direct sunlight – This can cause a glare on your work and may affect the colours of your piece. You should also avoid placing your artwork in front of a direct source of light.
  1. Hold the camera still or use a tripod or solid surface to help steady your camera – Take the image at a 90 degree angle to the artwork, straight-on and at a natural viewing distance. Make sure to keep the entire piece in the photograph.
