For our final session with Lisa Takahashi we returned to the incredible Creative Paper Craft by Ernst Rottger and were also inspired by some beautiful paper cut experiments by illustrator Clare Youngs. This session was all about shape – how we divide space, how small shifts change everything, and how restraint can spark creativity. Our one rule? Never add or take away.
As we followed the process, our choices of form and line began to reveal unexpected narratives, emerging quietly within the negative space. The beauty of this book lies in its lo-fi, cut-and-paste approach, resulting in simple, accessible techniques that lead to striking graphic results. With time, play, and experimentation, those simple beginnings unfold into something individual and expressive.
February also marked our final session with the amazing Lisa Takahashi. It’s been such a joy to have Lisa with us – these sessions have been so thoughtful, meditative and clear, whilst also full of freedom and experimentation.

As we turn the page into March, we’re thrilled to welcome back a very familiar face: Gemma Dunnell! Gemma will be with us throughout spring and summer, bringing her signature joyful, playful energy to the group. We can’t wait to see what unfolds next.
Join us for creative sessions, delivered online by a range of exciting artists. Keeping creativity as accessible as possible – either join us live or watch back in your own time.
New members can join at any time, and to help us keep the sessions running, we kindly ask for a small donation of £5-£50 for access to the group. However if this isn’t affordable for you, please let us know – we never want cost to be a barrier to taking part.
First Wednesday of the month 6.30 – 7.30pm on Facebook Live, plus a library of recordings.
