Window to Horizon

It’s amazing how the colour can change in a scene from hour to hour, day to day or season to season.”

We’ve been on a journey through our windows and out towards the horizon in our first few sessions with new Online Art Group artist Alison Jacobs. We cant always paint outside from life, but we can paint the view from our window.

Alison has guided us through ways of seeing our most familiar environments, to either simplify and abstract, enhance detail or capture the feeling of a moment in time. This was such a great warm-up session to get us into new ways of working, seamlessly following on from Sara Dudman’s previous still life sessions and pulling our focus out into the outside world. Then, using small jewel-like colour studies as inspiration, Alison introduced us to the process of building contemplative studies of land, sea and sky.
