Online Art Group Case Study

Thank you to Sara Dudman for compiling this Somerset Art Works – Online Art Group case study.

‘I don’t think I can fully vocalise just how invaluable the Online Art Group has been for me. It has helped keep me afloat both creatively and on a mental health level. I am quite isolated, living on my own and not able to travel very far due to ill health.’ – OAG participant December 2023

In a field of many short term workshop offers, the regular Online Art Group sessions have become valued, consistent highlights in participants’ lives. Working with a variety of artists in a range of creative materials and media, the group aims to create a truly accessible platform and community for people to engage with art and creativity in a way that works for them. It not only encourages creativity and the development of new skills, but also enriches wellbeing, through being part of a community and creating a sense of belonging. The Online Art Group opens up space and time-out from the stresses of life and an opportunity for some ‘me time’, for self-expression and increased self-confidence.

The case study is a useful tool to help us tell the story of the group and demonstrate its benefits, helping SAW to further fundraise and sustain this group into the future.

‘Arts interventions are often low-risk, highly cost-effective, integrated and holistic treatment options for complex health challenges to which there are no current solutions.’ – World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Office for Europe 2019
